Monenco Iran signed the contract for "Consulting Services to Provide Construction Supervision Services for Design supply and Installation of HVAC Line and Associated Substation Works in Tajikistan und


 A new electricity transmission system to connect four countries (the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan), called CASA-1000, would help make the most efficient use of clean hydropower resources in the Central Asian countries by enabling them to transfer and sell their electricity surplus during the summer months to the deficient countries in South Asia. This project is divided into two parts: owner engineer's for 500 kV HVAC transmission line and ±500 kV HVDC transmission line which Monenco was selected as the consultant of the HVAC part. Project components in the Tajikistan are:

  • 115 km, 500 KV HVAC transmission line from Regar to Sangtuda within the territory of Tajikistan;
  • 25 km, 500 KV HVAC from border of Kyrgyz Republic to substation Khudjand in Tajikstan along with relevant devices for connection to the substations;
  • 500 KV Substations at Sangtuda and Khudjand;
  • AC line termination arrangement at Sangtuda, converter station in Tajikistan.

Project Financing Sources: IBRD (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) loans and IDA (International Development Association) credits & grants by World Bank borrowers.
